The happenings...(BIG update)

This summer has FLOWN by so fast I can't believe it's almost over! But here are some things happening with the Parras. Over fourth of July weekend (yes I realize it took me over a month to post this) we went to Oceanside, CA and it was a BLAST! (as always) I can't even begin to put into words how much Ash LOVES the water. She was in love with the beach!! And every time she woke up that morning all we heard was "waa waa?!" She was fearless running into the ocean and playing with the sand (destroying each and every sand castle we made). Shane could only stay for the weekend but ash and I ended up staying for about 10 days and had so much fun playing with grandma Anne and Shelby. The day we drove home, I got to see Shane for a couple hours before he headed off to scout camp for a week! It was so hard to not see him for that long...but it's over.

The rest of this summer has been full of relaxing and swimming (because Ash is completely obsessed with the water). She is a great swimmer as well! As long as she has her floaties on, she can get to wherever she wants in the pool and loves jumping off the diving board! She just sticks her head in the water and kicks like a little motor boat :) If she had the choice...she'd swim all day! Some other things new with Ash...she LOVES elmo. (melmo she calls him) And loves dancing to every Sesame Street song they sing. She learns new words every day and LOVES to talk! A lot of it sounds like German but she's getting there. She is also the biggest goofball baby I know. We love her to death and she makes us laugh everyday. It's going to be sad going back to school, being consumed with studying...but she LOVES playing with her dad...and I'm almost done!

This summer Shane and I have also been golfing every Friday. And yes it's hotter than Hades out there but it's still really fun! (as long as I don't take it seriously...because I seriously suck haha!) Shane is still a deacons quorum leader and I still play the piano in primary (which I love). We have also invested in a bigger family car and got rid of the Sentra (best day of Shane's life haha). Not much else is new! Here's some pictures!

CRUISE!

Shane and I had the AWESOME opportunity to go on a cruise with my family for my parents 25th anniversary. It was the perfect start to summer and we had a BLAST!! We went on the Carnival cruise to the Caribbean. We started in Puerto Rico and went to Barbados, St. Thomas, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, and St. Maarten. So here are LOADS of pictures!

A random guy came up to us wanting to know if we wanted to hold his monkey. Haha of course he charged us cause nothing on the islands is free but it was only 20 bucks for the entire family!

Finally...an update!!

This is for my sister. As she hounds me everyday to update my blog...but this update was very much needed. Things have been so busy lately and they are just now slowing down so I can relax! I had an AWESOME finish in nursing school and am so happy I'm HALF WAY THERE! I absolutely love nursing school but I just can't wait till I can actually be a nurse! I feel like it'll be so much easier knowing I'm more than halfway through each day. This was the toughest semester and was totally draining but again I'm so happy it's over. I'm having so much fun with Ash and she has learned so much in the last month! She has said at least 10 new words in the last month and it's so fun to hear her try new words. She thinks she says everything right even though it sounds nothing like the word. I love this age so much! Anyway I'll just get some pictures we took throughout the semester and try to update more often!

More updates to come! Shane and I went on a cruise and it was a blast! Yay summer!

It's the start of spring break and I am SO excited to have a break! It could not have come at a more perfect time. This block of school is DEFINITELY harder and it's been tough to stay caught up with everything. So I'm excited to play catch up and spend more time with Shane and Ash!

Ash is growing so fast I can't believe it! And she won't slow down! She is always everywhere getting into everything and is always so curious! She just graduated to the big girl car seat and LOVES it! (yes she's barely 20lbs haha). She can say.....

We are just having so much fun with her! 15mo is such a fun age and she's so unpredictable. Just a few quarks about her are....she signs please for everything (and she looks like a gorilla pounding her chest when she does it) its the cutest thing! It just melts my heart when she wants something so bad and she's signing please so hard and violently that I have to give it to her...it's hard when it's something she can't have haha! She also LOVES doggies. Immediately when she sees one it's all she says till she can touch it or see it up close. We also can't bring animal books to church because she always yells "dog!" or "gobble gobble!" and it's quite the distraction. Her most favorite things to play with are balls and cars (thank you Shane). My little brothers have a huge closet full of toys and each time she goes back there she comes out with a ball or a car.
She also LOVES her daddy (more than me haha!). When I tell her "ash...daddy's home!" She immediately stops what she's doing and freaks out with her arms and legs...while trying to run to the door she face plants on the floor EVERY TIME. It's the most hilarious thing ever...even if she's not walking or running to the door her mini excited freak out causes her to collapse cause she can't handle it! She follows him everywhere in the house and never leaves him alone, she always wants to play with him. She also freaks out in church when Shane is passing the sacrament and she sees him. She yells "dad! dad! dad!" and cries if he doesn't come and get her....so everybody laughs in church and I have to take her out (quite embarrassing for me...but Shane loves every minute of it)
And lastly her most favorite place to be is outside. She could probably play for hours out there and HATES going back inside.
That's about it for Ash....It's so crazy how fast she's grown! Here's some pics!

We got to kick off the spring break by going to the Suns game! It was a very sad game but we were in a suite with all you can eat food so it kinda made up for it. Ha!

One Last Post...

School has started so I'm putting the blogging on hold yet again. I have a feeling this semester is going to be even more busy so I'm getting one last blog in till end of the semester! I'm hoping that with a little caffeine and even more enhanced study habits I can get a good grade again...we'll see :) But nothing is too new, Shane's good friend Jarem and his wife Camilla and their crew ended up in town and we were so happy to have them visit! Ash had so much fun playing with other kiddos! She just started walking about a week ago and everywhere now! We love watching her penguin walk with her short little legs and pop belly. She's growing up WAY too fast and it's getting harder and harder to leave her so I can finish school, but I know it will be worth it. Shane has been the best help to do whatever he can so I can study, and my mom has been completely selfless in watching her every time I go to school or for any other times I need her. My mother and sister in law are also always willing to step in if I need a little extra study time as well! I am really lucky to have the support system that I have so I can be successful and I'm SO grateful! I also feel so lucky that I am in a block with AMAZING girls to support and study with me as well. I truly believe that we are all successful because of each other. I hope you all have a great spring break cause I know that's what I'm looking forward to! :) Enjoy pictures!

We have been in our house for about a year now and I have SERIOUSLY been slacking on posting our renovation! It took about 2-3 mo to finish and we are really happy with it! We fixed pretty much EVERYTHING. The only sane room in the house was the 3rd bedroom but we painted it anyway to match the rest of the house...so enjoy!

It's Christmas Time!

I can't believe it's almost Christmas time and I'm totally caught up with everything! My house has been deep cleaned (now I just have to keep it that way), my shopping and wrapping is done, and I've finished all my baking! This time last year the little squirt came so early I had NO Christmas shopping done so I was dragging my drugged up C-section body all around town trying to get it done. It feels so nice to actually be on time :) Ash sat with Santa at our ward Christmas party and had NO facial expression on her face. She did not smile, she did not cry, she almost looked mad! But it was funny! We also went to see the Christmas lights which is always so fun! We hope you all have a merry Christmas!

Yes we finally got family pictures done! My mom was looking for a photographer and I knew just who to hire! Little miss Connie B (and when I say little miss, I mean little miss cute prego!) took them and they turned out great! She had her baby pretty much the day after I got the pictures! She is having a contest that if she gets 400 likes on facebook she'll do a giveaway :) her website is... conniebphotography.blogspot.com. Ash was super sick a couple days before and was just getting over it when we took these so we had such a hard time getting her to smile or to not look like she was ticked off. She also had a really bad rash cause of her high fever when we took these (another post another day) and Connie did such a good job you can't even tell! I'm calling this part one because we had some other family pictures taken on Shane's side yesterday. I know they will turn out great and can't wait to see them! I can't believe I have a one year old! Ash turned one this week! Her birthday was the same day as my final (which I ACED!) so it was a crazy day! I have many many posts to catch up on so here are some pics from her birthday! Also as a side note, I switched Ash off of formula and I have about 10-11 extra cans of Similac soy so if any body wants dibs on those let me know!

We are alive...

Yes we are alive! And we're doing great! I started nursing school about 6 weeks ago and it has been a big life changer but I'm loving it so far. The study load is sometimes unbearable but I've been doing pretty good so far considering I haven't been in school for almost 2 years. I passed my first test and just aced my last one so I'm feeling pretty good! It's just still hard to balance out the school work with the house work, baby work, and hubby work. But we're finally starting to get the hang of it.

Shane is doing great! He's just as busy as I am with his new calling as a deacon leader. He got called about 2 months ago and they've already taken up 3 of his weekends with camp outs and such. He's also gone for mutual nights and softball on Thursday nights. The rest of the nights he hangs out with Ash so I can go to study groups. He's been a huge lifesaver so many times and Ash is definitely starting to be a daddy's girl. (which makes me sad but I'll just have to get over it haha)

And finally Ash the monkey is all over the place. She is such a good baby. We went for her 9 month check up almost a month ago and she was in the 15% for weight and 50% for height. Which actually shocks me cause she seems like such a short little squirt but I guess she's got some height! She's got her 9th tooth coming in and she LOVES to use her chompers. She must have whatever Shane and I are eating. She'll just sit there and beg for whatever is on my plate and I can give her just about anything that I know won't give her a tummy ache. She loves just about every kind of baby food and I never have a hard time getting her to eat. She crawls and stands up on everything. (especially on me when I'm trying to cook) She loves to talk all day long but can only say mama, dada, and baba....so she shouts those all day long. She is the LOUDEST baby ever....she loves to throw out high pitched screams when she gets excited. Especially at waitresses at restaurants, and the people who sit behind us at church. Her hand eye coordination is down so she doesn't let Shane and I feed stuff into her mouth, she likes to take it from our fingers with her fingers then put it into her mouth. And she loves to clap and she will rarely actually sing with me when I sing her primary songs. I wish she would do it more!

Well I believe that's just about it. I feel so lame I don't update this enough. I know that my next update probably won't be till the semester ends, but keep updating all of your blogs cause I still keep up with them :) Or at least try....haha! I have been pretty good about still taking pictures so here are some recents....or some from two months ago :) I'll try and take more pictures with me and Shane in them as well... haha! Have a happy October!

So Ash went through this phase of squishing up her face into some very attractive faces. She LOVES to make these faces and sniff in and out really fast. I am so glad that I have pictures of these because she's making them less and less and starting a new face of just screaming a high pitched girl scream really loud just for fun (especially in church). Long Overdue Summer Post

So I have no excuses for not updating my blog lately. Just laziness. My laptop was being a bit spazy but we bought a new one for the new school year that's coming up. Yep...I'm starting nursing school in the fall and I can't be more excited/nervous! It'll be hard but I know it'll be so worth it. I'm so thankful to have family near by supporting me and helping with watching the kid :). But this summer has been so busy! We took a week vacation for fourth of July to Oceanside, CA. It was so fun to have Ash on the beach, but too bad it was cloudy and freezing the ENTIRE time! I wanted the sun to come out so badly to brown this skin of mine that looks so white next to Shane's. (he makes me aware of it too haha). But oh well, we've got plenty of sun here in AZ. So here are some new things with Ashlyn, who by the way is almost 8 months and it's freaking me out!

--She's not even close to crawling. I think she might be the laziest baby on the planet. Haha! If she can't reach something, she'll turn around and find something else. And if I put everything out of her reach...she somehow gets to it by pulling a couple 360's on the ground. So she can turn real well and can even go backwards...just hasn't grasped the concept of FORWARD. And I'm at a loss of what to do haha any pointers???

--She now has her first top tooth in which makes a total of 3 toofers. I could see that tooth coming in for more than a week just waiting for it to sprout and it took forever, and baby was miserable! Glad that's over...bring on the next one!

--She loves all baby food. And she's an eating machine now. She'll eat 2 jars (w/ cereal) in the morning, one in afternoon for a snack, and two in the evening and somehow seems to down 6oz of formula every 3 hours on top of that. That may not be a lot...but it is for my tiny munchkin!

Anyway...on to the good stuff...the pictures. Enjoy! There's a lot :)

6 Month Baby!

Ash is 6 months today! I can't believe how fast time has gone and how big (she's still small) she's getting! We went to the doctor and she is now a whole 14.5lbs! Haha. She's in the 25% for weight and 50% for her height. So here are some Ashlyn facts.

-she now has 2 teeth!
-she can sit up by herself, however mom has to be there in case she decides to fling herself in a chosen direction
-she LOVES to be naked and LOVES to go swimming.
-She has a sensitive stomach so she loves to spit up all over mom.
-she now loves to blow raspberries until her shirt is all wet.
-she also loves to grunt a very unattractive sound until her face is all red. (and no she's not pooping)
-she loves to smack herself in the head with her toys, or just chuck them somewhere where mom can't reach to pick them up
-her favorite word right now is bababababababababa.......
-she loves to roll all over but still can't figure out the concept of scooting....
-she also LOVES to stand (shane says she'll walk before she crawls)

I'm not going to lie, I got it REALLY easy with her. She is the easiest baby. She lets me put her down so I can go do stuff (as long as she's not cranky from teething). She still sleeps all through the night despite her recent teething (thank you baby orajel). I should knock on wood hoping she'll be an easy toddler too. I'm hesitant to have another at all cause I have a feeling I won't have it as easy with that one. We do have our tough moments but they are rare and don't last long at all. I think my biggest challenge is losing this dang baby weight!! Here's some pictures!

World Cup Prep

So Shane and I have made our bracket for the world cup. We each made one with his brother Mike and sister Shelby. Shane is kind of embarrassed of my bracket but I don't see why...:). Let's just say I like my share of upsets. So here they are! Have you made one yet? We're stoked!!

We're not sure what the winner gets yet. But everyone knows it's going to be me :).

Summertime Honey

We've had such a fun summer so far! Memorial weekend we went up to Show Low for the annual softball tournament! It was so fun! They took third and did a great job. Ash was the BEST baby when we were up there. She was so calm and rarely got cranky...as long as I was standing up and holding her of course. But she was still okay in the chair. We also had some swimming fun as well. So here's some pics! I hope you're all having a great summer!

New Family Addition....

Shane and I decided that we have a new family member. We would like you all to meet Manny. Manny the giraffe is Ashlyns FAVORITE thing. She is the first thing she sees and smiles at in the morning, and the last thing she sees and smiles at at night. He was probably one of my favorite shower gifts. My aunt has started these magnet boards and they are super cute! I picked out the giraffe and the fabric and I love him! Manny is responsible for the first time Ashlyn rolled over. I put her in her bed one time and she tried to get a better look at him and accidentally rolled over, she was so shocked and I laughed so hard! It took her awhile to fall asleep that night haha. So this is kind of picture overload but we've had some eventful days! I started feeding Ash cereal and it is so fun! I know it's going to start driving me crazy that she likes to grab the spoon as it's coming in...but I still have so much fun each time she eats. She's growing so so fast but is still so tiny. She's getting stronger but not strong enough to scoot herself around yet. It's a relief to me that I don't have to worry about her getting into trouble yet. But here are some pictures to enjoy! We're doing great!
She is excited every time she eats and is the biggest spaz! It's so funny! But this is the only picture I got the other day of her holding still. And i love it!
We babysat my cousins this past weekend and we tried putting her in the pool. She did not like it at all.
After eating and taking a bath she likes to chill and watch playoffs with mom and dad.

These are pictures of the first time she ate with a spoon. It wasn't the most successful but she's a pro now! But loves to get it all over herself each time.

She LOVES being outside with mom and dad! Especially when we're washing the car and she gets the occasional mist from the hose.
She also LOVES taking walks....and mommy needs it.

Water Baby

This happened about 2 weekends ago and I finally have time to blog about it! Ashlyn had her first swimming experience! It was totally not planned but I was at my mom's house and my brothers and their friends were swimming in the jacuzzi and I decided to take Ashlyn along. I asked my mom if she had any sort of swim trunks or something from the boys when they were babies (or basically anything to keep her poop out of the pool :)) So she said she had some left over swim diapers (don't ask me why...my youngest brother is now 10 haha) and a baby hat so she didn't get sunburned. And this is what she looked like on her first swimming day...

I was pretty much crackin up the whole time. And yes this baby diaper is meant for a child that is 38lbs. She is 12lbs. However I took off the hat and decided that we weren't going to be out there that long and it wouldn't hurt her to look a little more like her brown father...:)

Ashlyn loved it and was talking the whole time (even though it doesn't like it haha) This was a fun day! More of Ashlyn's first coming up!!

Suns youngest fan...

It seems like it's been awhile since I last posted. That would be because we left our camera at the Suns game!! Luckily we were in a suite with Shane's uncle and he picked it up for us! I'm not going to lie...I was freaked out when I found out that we didn't have it. But all is well. Ashlyn experienced her first suns game and let me tell you, it was the LOUDEST suns game I've ever been to! It was the suns against spurs a couple weeks ago and it was an AWESOME game! Ash did so well! She pretty much jumped every time the crowd would roar, but looked so bored at the same time. It was hilarious! Here are some pics...

Shane officially decided that Ash is going to be a Jared Dudley fan. So she kinda sported the uniform.

I can't wait till we can actually get her to smile in pictures...instead of looking so squishy and bored. Ha!

Nothing is too new with us except for pictures...I gotta say...babies grow FAST. I can't believe it! She's getting so chunky now (well compared to the skinny monkey she was). And she just talks talks talks! So here's some fun pictures! I love how it's OUR blog but I pretty much only talk and post about our baby. Oh well! She's more exciting than we are.

Our baby stands! Ha well at least she is here. Shane thought it was the coolest thing but of course I was scared that she'd fall and nobody would catch her even though Shane was like a foot away. What can I say...I'm a mom. But it was so funny!

We really want to take her to a SUNS game soon and it's Shane's dream that she wears this. Yes and I'm pretty sure she's scared to death in the first picture. Oh well...according to Dad she has no choice :)

This Weekend...

So our weekend was most definitely action packed! On Saturday Shane and I decided that our lawn really needed to be taken care of because we had gone WEEKS without mowing it! So I mowed the entire front and back...and Shane weed edged. It took us a long time and we were beat!! We now have a BEAUTIFUL yard that we are in love with!!This however needs to get work done...someday.... :)

After finishing the yard work, Shane went to work for a couple hours. After he came home we headed out to my cousins wedding at Lake Pleasant....yes.....Lake pleasant. Ashlyn did awesome in the car, that is the longest we have driven with her and I was nervous but she pretty much slept the whole time.Yes she has one sock on. It's that one she kicks off so I finally just left it off!

Lately...

I cannot believe my baby is now 3 months!! She's getting so heavy yet she is still the smallest baby on earth. Ha! But I want her to stop growing because she's growing so fast! We just now graduated to a 5oz bottle and got rid of her newborn clothes because they don't fit her! It was almost embarrassing for her to wear them cause all you could see was her belly squeezing out! So she fits perfectly in 0-3 mo now (it's about time!). It's been so hard to blog because she HATES taking naps! I used to have to wake her up from her naps but now she'll only sleep for an hour if i'm lucky and only about 2 naps a day....3 if i'm lucky. She's one to fight the sleepiness. But I do appreciate that she sleeps 12-13 hours every night.

Angela, this picture is for you! Her tutu has been decorating her crib right because she hasn't been able to fit in it without it looking like it's eating her! haha! I will try to get a more official picture! (if shane lets me....I hardly got to do these! But we loved it!)

This was taken a few weeks ago when she went to Shane's softball game! She just sat there and didn't move a muscle and watched bright eyed at the game! Until she got tired and gave in to take a little nap. It was cold so we were so bundled! It was fun...I'm sad he's not playing on an official team this season but occasionally he gets to fill in here and there.

Our Valentines Week

Wow there is so much to update!! I can't say that Shane and I had the best Valentines ever. My Grandpa passed away unexpectedly the Wednesday before V-day weekend :( So my mom's ENTIRE family was down (all but one of her 7 siblings!) and there were cousins EVERYWHERE. I don't think Shane has ever seen so much family in one place, has seen that many babies in one place, or heard so much NOISE in one place! It was awesome to see all my family that I haven't seen in awhile. I'm just so grateful that he could be there for Ashlyn's blessing before he passed away...but I wish I would have gotten more pictures with him and her :( But that Saturday Shane and I decided that we needed a date so I dropped Ashlyn off with my sister and we had our FIRST DATE alone since she had been born!! We went to lunch and saw "Valentine's Day" and we loved that movie! Shane got me beautiful flowers and a new mixer cause my hand held mixer is a bust. And I got him a Boys II Men greatest hits CD!! Believe it or not he was SUPER excited and surprised when he opened it....it was a hit.

But for more updates....Ashlyn had her doctors appointment this week and she now weighs 9lbs 14oz! She's in the 15% for her weight and 50% for her height. She's going to be a petite little thing. But a couple weeks ago my good friend Lar Lar (Lauren) Brimley took our pictures and so here they are!! I absolutely love them and Ashlyn is such a crack up! She was so hard to photograph cause she was a little older than newborn so she wasn't asleep as much, yet she wasn't as alert so she's really squinty. But I love these...she did such a good job. Thanks Lar! (sorry for the overload but I have so many favorites!)

Shane blessed Ashlyn this past weekend and did such a good job!! That whole day was so special and she looked so pretty in her dress. My awesome aunt made the dress for her and I got it at my baby shower. I couldn't wait to put it on her but I had to wait cause she was so small! But here's an overload of pictures to enjoy :). Oh...and she's sleeping a whole 8 hours or more now! I'm such a happy camper!

Today Ashlyn is 7 weeks! I can't believe it! She's growing so fast and I want her to stop. Things have been awesome! Shane loves playing mommy during church while mommy is playing piano in primary. I am LOVING playing the piano! Primary is my most favorite calling I've had. Being away from our sunbeams...I forgot about how funny primary can be! So here are the new things with Ash....

-Thinks changing her diaper is the funniest thing ever. That is pretty much the only time I can get her to smile...on purpose. Ha! She's so squirmy and smiley the whole time I'm changing her.

-She is the biggest night owl. She loves keeping mommy up till 11 (even if she's been awake for 6 whole hours!! and sometimes more!), after that she conks out till 6. However if she goes to bed earlier, she's up every 4-5 hours! I don't even know what to do with this one. :)

-She sleeps ALL THE TIME. I try to get her to only take 2 naps a day (one in the morning and one in the afternoon, but then a short one in the evening) that way she sleep for me at night but it's impossible. She LOVES to sleep (like her mom). She's a growing girl.

-Her poopies are now lethal. And she passes gas louder than her daddy :). I've never heard Shane laugh so hard than when she farts. Her nickname we call her all the time is "stinky".

-She's a big cuddle bug. When ever Shane holds her she burrows her face in his armpit (sounds gross but you know what I mean), and she constantly has her head laying on my shoulder. I never have to worry about her suddenly flinging back ( i hope this lasts :).

- Her eyes are BLUE. I know that's normal but we have no idea when or even IF they will change! I have green eyes and Shane's are brown! I could have sworn they would be brown sometime soon. But her's are as blue as can be. Both of our moms have blue eyes so you can guess what Grandmas are rooting for :)

-I went back to work so Ash is loving spending 2 days a week with Grandma. And I'm pretty sure Grandma (my mom) is enjoying it even more. She had to make cupcakes for my bro's birthday and Ash was being naughty in the car seat so she took the beaters out of the beater machine and turned it on next to the carseat and Ash conked out in seconds. Which brings me to my next point....

-Ash only likes the carseat when it's in the running car or it's moving somehow. She's a goober.

Remember how I said she loves to sit up? Yep she prefers the rocking chair to her swing. Though her face might look angry, she's a happy baby :)

She wakes up from her afternoon naps wide awake and just makin noise! She hardly cries during the day and I love it! Shane and I still can't figure out who she looks like so let us know! Most say she looks exactly like me, but some say Shane too. I think she's got her own look so I don't know ha! All I know is she got her stomach from her Dad :) Hope you all are well!!

This weekend Shane's football team was recognized during the Mountain View basketball game and put in to the Mt. View hall of fame! So I decided to dress Ashlyn up and Shane has never been so proud!This is the closest we could get her to smile for a picture. She's been so smiley lately! I love it! 5 Weeks!!

I can't believe it's been more than a month! Time has gone by so fast and she just keeps on growing! (but she is still tiny haha) We went to the doctor today and she weighs 7lb 15oz! Doc says she's in the 10-25% for her weight, but she's still gaining so she's healthy. She is still not sleeping through the night but is waking up less often. She feeds every 3-4 hours and it's a lot better than every 2 hours! But Shane and I are doing great! Shane started his part time internship and is really busy with his other part time job doing accounting for a construction company. And as for me, I just got called to be the primary pianist in our ward. So Shane and Ashlyn get to have lots of fun during church :). This past weekend my good friend Lauren Brimley took pictures of Ashlyn and it was so much fun! Ash was kinda a stinker cause when she's awake she's such a spaz but we're really excited to see them. Anyway here's some pictures.

So I've seen a lot of people own these but they never really said how awesome it is! Ashlyn loves it! She hates her swing because she hates laying on her back (yes she is sleeping on her tummy) and she loves this cause she can sit up!....and fall asleep

And here is Ashlyn in her bath! It's hilarious cause she hates being naked cause she's cold. So she'll cry before her bath. Once I put her in she stops and closes her eyes and completely relaxes! I the more warm water I pour on her the more she falls asleep. Then I take her out and she cries till she's dressed and wrapped in her blanket!

Our Christmas was a blast and actually really relaxing! Baby Ashlyn slept the WHOLE day and got a HAUL of clothes! Shane and I were getting worried because when we brought her home we did not have 1 outfit that fit her! Shane's mom went out and bought some newborn one-sies which ended up being a huge lifesaver. They were still pretty big but she's fits into them really well now. But for Christmas....she got enough newborn clothes to last her for the next month without laundry! I had to clean out all of her 0-3 mo clothes in her dresser and just fill it with her newborns! I hope she doesn't grow too fast so she has a chance to wear all of them :). She's even starting to grow out of her preemie diapers :). Christmas eve we went to the doctor and her new stats are: 6lbs 3oz and 20in long! Doc says she's growing fast! Anyway...here's some pictures from Christmas Day and my goal for the new years is to take LOTS more pictures than I usually do :). So here's a start...

Where to begin...Shane and I have pretty much experienced the CRAZIEST, BUSIEST, and most BLESSED time of our lives. And it all happened in one month! We moved into our new house, we had our perfect baby girl, and Shane graduated from ASU. I will post before and after pics of our home another time because there is so much to talk about and plus baby pictures are just better :). So here is a preview....and a view of our pretty Christmas tree!

Introducing our brand new baby girl: Ashlyn Marie Parra! Born Monday December 14th at 6:11pm. She weighed a whole whopping 5lbs 9oz at 18in long. She's a tiny tiny bundle of joy and we LOVE having her around! Shane finally knows how to change a diaper and is pretty pro if i do say so myself. She's got so much hair and is sleepy sleepy all the time. Well....during the day that is... :)

After the surgery....don't I look pleasant? :) Ice chips were definitely my friend that night.

Shane had the best time wearing surgery clothes and observing all the happenings. I had to hold him back pretty strong from yelling out "scalpal!!"

And this picture brings me to my labor story...cause everyone loves to hear one! Sorry if I make it way too long :) I know I love to hear them! Sunday night I had a really hard time sleeping cause I had really bad low back pain and I was tossing and turning the whole night. So that morning I told Shane that my back hurt really bad and I wondered if it had anything to do with contractions. I would feel fine one minute and then the next it would be terrible pain (i know many of you are saying....duh that is what a contraction is). Haha! But I always understood that they were supposed to be across your belly and these weren't at all! So I went to work and asked my ultimate advice giver Megan if they could be contractions and she said that she had the same thing so I began to time them. They weren't consistent at all so i DID NOT want to go to the hospital to just have them send me home for false labor so I just went through the day enduring it. Finally I just told Megan that I couldn't concentrate and wasn't getting anything done so I left early at 3pm and called my doctor to see what he said. It took about 20 min for him to call me back and said for me to head to maternity and they'll tell me if i'm in labor. So we headed over and got there at about 4 and they checked me and said I was dialated at a 5!!! (let me just tell you this is not what I expected labor to be like....I expected pain across the belly with screaming so I was SHOCKED). Last time I had an ultra sound Ashlyn was BREACH so they ordered the ultrasound and found that she was still BREACH :( so they gave me medicine to slow my contractions and we waited 30 min for my Dr. to get there to perform the C-section. Shane got dressed in his surgery clothes, I got prepped and Doctor pulled her out at 6:11pm. The entire experience happened SO FAST and it took so long for Shane and I to actually realize that we just had our baby girl. So here is a picture of me ready to rock and roll!! :)

Shane was such an AWESOME husband and daddy making his trips from home, to school, to the hospital trying to spend as much time as he could with Ashlyn and me despite him having 2 finals and a 10pg paper due before he graduated. So we had her Monday and he graduated Thursday! Yes...i went. And yes...i was the slowest walker there. But it was more than worth it to see Shane graduate, and a shout out to my mom for watching baby so I could take part of that experience.

Shane and I have never been more happy (and tired haha) but we are having so much fun spending time together with our little baby girl. It's going to be a lot better when I'm fully recovered and don't take a total of 30 sec just to stand up or sit down. We are already having the best Christmas EVER!.

An Update!!

Per the request of MANY I am FINALLY updating my blog! I've been so busy/lazy to update it :) Things are going great with us! We've been busy remodling the house that we are going to move into in a couple of weeks and we are so excited! Those before and after pictures are coming soon. I just want to wait till we're moved in and everything is pretty before I take the after pictures. It was really fun painting the baby room the colors I liked and it turned out really cute!We can't wait to move from our 1940's adobe house, but we'll also miss it :). We're also really sad to leave our sunbeams. They are really what makes our Sundays so busy/fun. Everyday after church is a new story that we are laughing so hard at. I love 3 year olds!!

We can't wait till this little girl finally comes! I'm 30 weeks now and i'm kinda freaking out I only have 10 weeks left. I know that's still a lot but it doesn't seem that much to me cause it's been going by so fast. This baby is SO SO active. She moves around ALL day and I love it! (except for when i'm trying to sleep of course). Her new thing is to start the abolute craziness at 10pm and it doesn't end till after midnight. So i've been going to bed late for the past couple weeks. Any time I'm sitting down, 10 min later she's rolling around and kicking. I feel really lucky i'm carrying her low so she's not having fun with my ribs :). She's having more fun with my bladder. :) And no, I am still not having any cravings :). My friend Sierra asks all the time what my cravings are so she can serve them at my baby shower and all I have to say is ice cream and cookie dough! All I know is that i'm not the biggest fan of italian food....eh.

Well that's what's new! We can't wait to move in our house, Shane to graduate, and to have this baby! And at the request of many I took a belly shot :). I probably should have taken one a long time ago for documenting but I kept putting it off.

There you go! The bandaid on my arm explains me getting the H1N1 shot :) No swine flu for me!

The end of summer..

To end our summer we took a big trip to Lake Powell!! This just happens to be one of my most favorite places to vacation and I was so happy to be feeling well enough to jet ski, mildly tube, and eat lots and lots of food!

I asked Shane if he would drag Madi and I on the tube our last day there. I had been missing out on all the activities cause of the little one in my belly and little did I know he would not take it easy...he must know we've got a strong child cause he gave us a good ride! This smile on my face is the shock and fear after the ride.
Also my sister Madi was OBSESSED with comparing our bellies. She had planned out the exact day that she would compare with what dinner we were having that night so that she could take a picture. She tried as hard as she could to eat a ton and drink lots of soda and yelled at me to suck it in! In other words, my sister is crazy....but I love her!
There was a tiny rock island that we floated to!
The only watersport I could participate in. But I can't complain cause it's my favorite!!

But enough of the vacation, our biggest summer news is that we're having a GIRL!! And yes Shane is doing just fine :). We are both way excited and are having so much fun preparing and just got the crib of our dreams! We got a SMOKIN deal designer crib that came with matress and bedding for $75 bucks!!! And after searching on the internet we found it was going for $850 bucks!! Shane works with furniture liquidation on the weekends and he spotted it and hoped it wouldn't get taken, and once it wasn't taken his boss gave it to us for a STEAL. Now I just have to get used to the color pink because those of you who know me would never EVER put the colors pink and purple to my name, which is probably why i'm having a girl :). So I had a little fun and posted our baby pictures so you can imagine our new baby parra lady!

Our awesome summer so far...

We've had an awesome summer so far! It's most definitely been busy. For starters we went golfing for my birthday and it was so fun! HOT....but fun. I got a wicked farmers tan that day (and so did shane) that it took about a week of 5 hours at the beach to get rid of (and I'm sure it's not gone yet). And yes...Shane beat me...but I did have my good moments! We had two old men strangers golfing with us that gave me many compliments (that I didn't deserve half the time).

This is after a flawless drive on a par 3 that I did and it landed right on the green! I was so proud that I took a picture. One of the compliments that the old men constantly gave me was that I was an awesome putter. I will have you know that it took me about 3 putts to sink this ball creating a bogey for me. Shane couldn't stop laughing.
We also go to sit in the TGIFriday's section at the Diamondbacks game! Free endless food and a crappy game made up an awesome night.
We recently just got back from a week vacation in Oceanside and it was SO much fun! Beach every day with Frisbee, Harry Potter and paddle ball is the life for us (well except no Harry Potter for Shane....Glen Beck is for him). Shane and I decided to get creative with the Frisbee throwing so we caught it between our legs and behind our backs! Not so successful but I bet it was entertaining for those who were watching...

Well that's it for now. We're going to Lake Powell next week and we're really excited for that. I'm about 15 weeks now in my pregnancy and I am sick no more! It's so nice to eat food and enjoy it. We're excited to find out what our baby will be and it's coming up really quickly! January 5th seems forever away but I know that will come up quickly too :)

Okay clearly it's been awhile since I've posted because I can't think of a creative way to tell my good news!.....I'm PREGO!! Yep I'm about 8 weeks now. And actually feeling pretty good! I'm nauseous all the time but it's really tolerable. I've been expecting to be on the bathroom floor and it really hasn't happened more than just a couple times (knock on wood). Shane has pretty much decided that it's a boy because "he doesn't make anything else." Which is why I really think its' going to be a girl cause things just happen that way! So it seems that the common question when I tell people is "are you craving anything??" And so let me just keep you updated....

Am i craving anything?? No. Never. In fact it's kinda the opposite of crave but I still try to shove food in my stomach to keep the little tike healthy and happy.

Things I am really not liking right now...
Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts (i know sad) but I like all other country!
Sweets (Cakes, cookies, etc) even more sad....
Waking up (I've never liked it but it's harder than ever)
Not liking food (cause it's so not like me!)
Cleaning (I have to seriously push myself to get things done right now)
Seeing baby clothes and not able to get them cause I don't know the gender!
Constant nausea.

Well there it is! It's kinda crazy thinking about me with a big tummy. Shane can't wait! Neither can I actually...cause I pretty much feel fat right now...not too prego. But it'll come!

So if you ever knew me in high school you would not put the word "domestic" to my face. Even Shane knew what he was marrying into but slowly but surely I am proving him wrong! With my cooking he even admitted that he had doubts but I have been blowing him out of the water with my BLT's, Mexican rice, and Chimichangas. I also have one more thing to admit, lately I have been.....crafty. Crazy I know and I'm sure you can't see it now but I have a couple pictures of my most humbled creations. I have others but these two I'm the most proud of...and Shane I think is STILL shocked!! I'm hoping these pictures do them justice. And I still have more crafts I'm working on.

Okay first of all I have to give credit to Jess for both of these. We have been getting tons of invitations for weddings lately and we don't have any refrigerator magnets and so I wanted a cuter way to display them. So in Jess's house she has one of these behind her couch in the family room and it turned out cute so I made one! To tell the truth I was winging it the whole time but it turned out really well! I love staple guns....

I made this one at Jess's house and it was her wedding gift to me. We made it together and I realized how AMAZING mod podge is!! And it turned out really well and looks great in our house!

Some others is I did letters that spell PARRA over the arch in our house, and block letters that spell Te Amo over our bed (eventhough it kinda looks like I spelled the word TEAMO.) but i try...

Well I hope you are all amazed! Even my closest friends do a double take at me and say..."wait you made what?" or "wait...kelci I never knew you could craft!" I still have a long way to go but if any of you have any ideas just let me know! Cause it turns out that I love it!!

Lately

So this past weekend we threw a bridal shower for my friend Christine who is getting married next week. Even though before the shower it was slave work we had so much fun!! Britt came down and came to the shower and we were so stoked to see her cause it's been so long. WE LOVE BRITT. Anyway here's some picures!

The set up was so cute! We loved her colors. You can't see the centerpiece very well but sierra and marla were the artists.

This was my job. Sweaty job. Cooking the paninis. Making them , toasting them and burning my fingers while cutting them into tiny triangles. I've never felt so productively domestic.

Fun Times

Well nothing is too new with us but here are a couple things we've been up to...

Shane and I went to the suns game and we had awesome seats! They play little games during the time outs and for one of the games they picked the guy right behind me! So we were on the big screen and the gorilla was right behind us. Shane tried to get the best picture he could. It was so fun!
So Shane and I are on a co-ed softball team and it's been so fun so far. One game a guy hit a ball hard at me and well...it hit my leg instead of my glove. It hurt so bad but Shane and I decided to get a picture to always remember how big and nasty it was. It was super swollen the day I got it. And yes....i am afraid of the ball now. Shane says we need to do practicing drills :).

We went to Mexico for spring break and it was so fun! Shane's sister Shelby begged us for about a month to go and I think that we have her to thank for that trip :). I did have a picture of her too to put up but I think she would murder me or never trade with me in settlers if i put it up. I think she looks cute but she thinks otherwise. I wish I took more pictures of this trip but that is my weakness that Shane is trying to make my strength (taking pictures). I swear I'm going to try to be better. We love you Shelb and had so much fun! Basically all we did was eat tacos, play paddle ball, and play settlers. All you need in a trip. We'll be doing that again!

Valentine's Day!!

For Valentine's Day we went up north to my parent's cabin in Payson. We knew that it had snowed but we didn't think that there would be any snow in Payson! We have a golf hole in our back yard (hole 11 to be exact) and it's a par 5 so it's huge! We ran around on that for awhile but the snow was so icy and hard that it was not material for making a snowman. So we drove over to the park in the community and played around there instead. That was so fun! We both injured our bums sliding down the slide of death and that slowed things down a bit..haha. But we travled more up the mountain where there was more snow and that turned out to be SUPER fun! Here are some pictures of our LOVE day!

Shane climbed up a tree and jumped off like spiderman. Let me tell you it is a challenge climbing in snowboard boots. I am proud of this picture!

This is what our butts hit as we blasted down the slide. We thought we would have a race and we went ALOT faster than I thought. I guess snowboard pants and ice makes everything faster. Immediately after we started racing I regretted my challenge. Even more so, when we hit this rock of ice on the way down...I ramped off of it painfully and landed on my feet, and Shane just went to the ground. This was definitely one of those moments with tears of laughter and pain.

The Married Life

I finally got some time to post!! My computer is broken and Shane is always doing homework on his. We LOVE married life and we're having so much fun! I can't believe we've been married for 3 months. For some reason it seems so much longer. And I am SO ready for it to warm up. Shane and I haven't turned on the heat this winter and it's been fine so far...but this week has been so FREEZING. Our source of heat comes from the oven and stove when I cook and bake, and a space heater that his so generous mother gave us (assuming that I'll be freezing for the eternal duration of this marriage knowing that Shane is never cold). Our house stays cold cause we have HUGE trees covering it during the day. The huge trees also explain the constant pigeon poop we have on our cars. Anyway, enough of random facts...here's some pics!
I never touched on Christmas. Let me tell you what a busy day that was!! We went to 5 different places and yes....we did wear those sweaters all day. Parra family tradition (established last year) is Shelby and Mike picked out mine and Shane's sweaters and we did them the same favor. Shelby won best sweater of the year (on the right), and Shane will look good in any Christmas sweater he wears, which doesn't make the contest very fun. We plan to find him a good one next year!Every Saturday Shane and I do yard work! We have a giant tree in our front yard and all it does is shed shed shed. Shane handles the tools for the grass and I sweep the porch. I decided that instead of waiting for all the leaves to fall each week i'd knock them down my self. So this is what I was doing to knock down the leaves with a broom. It was a success....

This is a regular. The taco shop. Best thing that has ever happened to us. They have THE most amazing tacos and quesadillas. Right next door is a Mexican drink shop where we get our coco drink to accompany our tacos. It's a place on Main street and i'm pretty sure the sign just says TACOS. It's simply greese heaven.

And lastly, the hot dog stand. Located on Country Club and University. Walking distance from our house and the most heavenly hot dogs!! Hot dogs wrapped in bacon with grilled onions, guacamole, and parmesan cheese. Without fail they are out there by 7 and still there at midnight. The picture's a bit blurry but we LOVE this place! (but try to go as little as possible...they aren't the most healthy:)

Long Overdue

It has been awhile since i've last posted and to tell you the truth, it's cause I had no idea how to work this blogging business. So I finally figured it out and I guess it's time to commit. Shane and I are doing great! We LOVE marriage. And we're having a blast! We got called to be sunbeam teachers in our new ward and i'm pretty sure that after this, Shane wants to wait a bit longer to have kids. We have 11 kids in our class and no mercy. We have so much fun though and we're getting lots of experience! If anyone has any advice on how to tame sunbeams i'm all ears! We just want to keep them in their seats for SOME of the class and their shoes on as well :). Anway i'll post some wedding pics that are long overdue!

We started a blog!!

So by the request of MANY friends I have decided to become the ideal wife and start a blog. I'm not going to lie it took me awhile to figure it out but I'm going to do my best! Finals are this week so I'm going to start posting when winter break starts and I have more time. Shane and I got married on November 21st and we're still moving in our house! We're renting a house in the historical district in Mesa, it's super cute and we love it! We went on our honeymoon to Cancun and it was a blast! I would put up pictures but we just happen to lose our camera and all the past pictures we took that week :(. Shane left it in a bathroom whiled exploring ancient ruins so i guess that makes up for me losing the ring after he proposed.
